Not all but most locksmiths will not be operating a full service on Christmas and New Year. I tend to only respond to extreme emergencies. There are of course some locksmiths who don’t celebrate Christmas and will be on call but generally the phones are much quieter on Christmas day with just a few emergency calls. There will be a point in the day where I will stop taking calls so that I can relax. Even locksmiths need a break at some point.
The picture below is me taking a break off duty, I don’t wear my uniform on Christmas Day but I do listen for calls up until a certain point.

Expect prices to be double the standard rate if you are locked out of your house and need to call a locksmith on Christmas Day or New Year. What I Would Say to Anyone Locked Out on Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve
If someone calls me on Christmas Day or New Year and says “I’ve locked myself out of my house”, the first thing I will say is, “Can you stay somewhere else for the night?”
Usually when I explain the cost implications people will try to think of someone they can stay with. However of course it is not always possible for everyone to do that. We will always try our very best to help.

You may have no other option but to call a locksmith to get you back into your house. If this is the case choose a trustworthy locksmith! There are too many dodgy locksmiths looking for an opportunity to take advantage of people who are vulnerable.
